308 Adblue/Urea tank fault.

Main Post:

I have a 2015 308 2L and just started getting a SERVICE - "Emissions fault". It looks like I have the infamous adblue tank fault and need to replace the whole assembly. Does anybody know the best way to fix or source one as getting one from Peugeot is in the region of £1000?

Top Comment:

Regardless of whether it's under warranty or not, pressurize the peugeot service, they might give you a free change

Other than that, it is literally impossible to fix, other than taking out the adblue tank and changing the faulty Adblue control unit, which is hard because you need:

Lifter, time, knowledge, spare part.

3008 AdBlue /Urea and suspension problems

Main Post:

Hi everyone, so, I've got a 3008 1.6 HDi, year 2015. I've bought it in August 2020 from a Peugeot auto center, as a used car. When I bought it, it was driven for around 62000 km. The current kilometrage is a bit over 67000 km.Three days ago for the first time since I've bought it, the urea light started flashing, and there was a warning "Urea - emissions control fault", as well as "Engine fault - repair needed". During the last couple of weeks, I've also noticed a strange sound on the right front side. I suspected it was a suspension issue, so I wanted to check that out as well. On Friday, I filled the AdBlue to the top, but despite of it, the warnings were still there. On Saturday, I arranged a car service for today at the auto center, where I've bought the car. Meanwhile, on Saturday the urea light went away along with the warning, and on Sunday, the engine fault warning went away, but I wanted to have everything checked out nonetheless. They checked it out today, and it turns out that the Urea tank needs to be changed. There was some kind of a pressure problem, and when I asked the manager what caused this, he didn't know the answer, and just told me that the whole Urea tank needs to be changed. In regards to the suspension, unfortunately, I was right, and the right suspension needs to be changed. Since it's best to change them in pairs, he advised me to change both front suspensions.

Now, I'm just wondering, in the 5000 km that I've driven this car (around town, nothing too crazy), is it possible that I've spent the suspension to such an extent that it now needs to be changed, or did they sell me a car whose suspensions were already worn out, and didn't even bother to inform me about it? I've read that the suspensions need to be changed between 65000-80000 km which is conveniently now. Now the price: I'm from Croatia, so I'll write the price of the repair in kunas, as well as euro. He wrote me a tender, and the price of the repair:

6.627,99 kunas (~885 €) - urea tank replacement- 2675,79 kunas (~357 €) - a pair of front suspension + replacement.

That's 1242€ overall, and that's almost two of my monthly salaries. I don't know about you guys, but for the Croatian standard, that's a lot. Do you think that I could ask for a reduction of price especially if they weren't transparent with some of these things which may have already been faulty or needed to be replaced before they sold it to me. I've also read that in some instances, Peugeot covers the urea tank replacement costs.

I apologize for the long post, and thank you for your responses.

The urea tank is covered under Peugeot extended warranty for 6 years! So you may just still be within that! Even if you are not ring customer service in your country and complain. Peugeot are one of the better companies at helping outside of warranty for issues. Your fault code will be p20e8 I suspect. Ask the repair centre to put down a good will claim on your behalf to Peugeot! Good luck! Forget: The shocker issue isn’t common and if they are correct I’d ask for a contribution to the bill again. Usually Peugeot will cover the part and you pay the labour!
